The City of Chicago has lost a great man and a true hero. Surrounded by his family, Chicago Police Officer Bernard "Bernie" Domagala passed away on September 5th, 2017, from injuries sustained while serving and protecting the city that he loved (in 1988).

Bernie, 66 of Chicago, was the beloved husband of Denise, loving father of Erik (Lynda), Craig (Jen), and Adam (Krystal), cherished brother-in-law of Ed and Deb Hoyt, caring uncle of Neil (Lindsay) and Scott (Morgan), and fond brother of Karen (Jim) Murphy and Roger Domagala.

Officer Domagala is preceded in death by his parents, Marcella and Walter Domagala, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Walter Kissel.

Visitation services will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Blake Lamb Funeral Home 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Martyrs Church, 10233 S. Central Park Ave., Evergreen Park, Illinois.
